How to find a distressed business

Sources of leads for potential acquisition targets include:

Business for sale advertisements; e.g. in the financial times business for sale section;

London gazette; this lists insolvencies so could provide potential leads;

Relationships with Insolvency practitioners and accountants. Some have internal databases so register an interest to ensure you are circulated with opportunities;

Notifications of insolvency (if you are a supplier); and

Keeping your ear to the ground and develop relationships within the industry.
