Redundancy

Being made redundant is not a pleasant experience for anyone but businesses experiencing financial difficulties often have to consider cutting jobs. This may be to save other jobs through cost reduction or could be due to eventual closure.

This section is split into the following:

The process

Amounts that can be claimed

How to claim

What happens next

Employees who have been made redundant without notice should ensure that they take action to minimise their losses. Any claim for Notice pay will be reduced if the Redundancy Payment Service considers that there are benefits, etc. that could have been claimed.

Therefore immediately following redundancy (provided there is no job lined up) employees should make appointments with the local Unemployment office to ensure they obtain all benefits they may be entitled to.
